Cautionary Tales Part III: The Device Upsell

In the third installment of UroFill® Cautionary Tales, Dr. Perito warns patients about “the device upsell,” where added products for compression or stretching the penis are tacked onto standard girth enhancement.

While medically supervised penile traction can have legitimate uses, many of these products don’t help increase size and can actually do serious harm to a patient.

Before agreeing to purchase a compressive device, patients need to ask:

  1. What condition is this treating?
  2. Is the reliable, supportable evidence about this exact device?
  3. Is the device approved by the FDA?
  4. Who will treat me if I experience side effects in the middle of the night?

Girth enhancement, when conducted properly by a board-certified urologic surgeon can be a safe and simple procedure–don’t be fooled into buying fancy, expensive add-ons!
